“Prayer assumes the sovereignty of God. If God is not sovereign, we have no assurance that He is able to answer our prayers. Our prayers would become nothing more than wishes. But while God’s sovereignty, along with his wisdom and love, is the foundation of our trust in Him, prayer is the expression of that trust.” — Jerry Bridges

1. The gospel and the promises of God should not DIMINISH our PRAYERFULNESS but ENERGIZE it!

John 14:12-14 // Philippians 4:6 // // James 5:16-18

2. UNIFIED prayerfulness has been a FOUNDATIONAL aspect of the church’s MISSION since its INCEPTION.

Acts 2:42, 4:24, 6:6, 12:5, 14:23

3. CORPORATE prayer is particularly FITTING as the church enters a new SEASON with NEED for God’s DIRECTION.

Acts 13:2-3 // Ezra 8:21-23 // Nehemiah 9:1-3 // 2 Chronicles 20:3-4

4. Seeking God’s WILL in prayer should always involve 3 key elements: SCRIPTURE, WISDOM, and the GUIDANCE of the HOLY SPIRIT.
