Rejecting False Gospels | Acts 13:1-12 | World Upside Down

The Lord has given Spirit-empowered, gospel-centered, God-glorifying Bible teachers to His church for the sake of human salvation and the preservation of sound doctrine.
 
(Ephesians 4:11-14)

There are also false prophets spreading anti-gospel teachings with selfish motives, working in opposition to Jesus’ church and mission.

The supremacy of God is good news to the world because….
God maintains His purposes and faithfulness, not IN LIGHT of His peoples FAITHFULNESS, but DESPITE their UNFAITHFULNESS.
2 Timothy 2:11-13 // Psalm 19:7 // Romans 3:23 // Romans 2:15
“And the First use of it, without question, is, to convince the world of sin….But it is the ordinary method of the Spirit of God to convict sinners by the law. It is this which, being set home on the conscience, generally breaketh the rocks in pieces. It is more especially this part of the word of God which is zvn kai energhs, -- quick and powerful, full of life and energy, 'and sharper than any two edged sword.' This, in the hand of God and of those whom he hath sent, pierces through all the folds of a deceitful heart, and 'divides asunder even the soul and the spirit;' yea, as it were, the very 'joints and marrow.' The WEIGHT of the LAW is meant to REVEAL to all people their need for a SAVIOR.

ACCOUNTABILITY is ESSENTIAL in the church because EVERY CHRISTIAN is SUSCEPTIBLE to gospel DRIFT.
“We need accountability. Left to our own devices, we will soon devise or succumb to all kinds of evil. As Christians we know that we need other believers to hold us to the standards of Scripture. Life is far too difficult and we are far too sinful to live in solitude. We need community. We need accountability. And God has anticipated our need by giving us the local church as the primary means of this accountability.” — Tim Challies
- No matter how MATURE in faith, we ALL continue to have indwelling SIN that must be DEALT with.

- Biblical COMMUNITY affords relational PROXIMITY which affords healthy OPPORTUNITY for others to see our sinful PROCLIVITIES.
